Popping my blogging cherry

Welcome to my blog, this is the first I’ve started or written so cut me some slack if something goes wrong, or sound like a massive tit. I will use this blog to give out my views on anything like films, music, just the general stuff everyone does here. To start with I thought I may as well just start by telling a little about myself.

Name:
Tyler. W

Favourite Films:
My all time personal favourite film is Akira Kurosawa’s master piece Schichinin No Samurai, or Seven Samurai in English! There is just so much that is too love about this film like the fantastic performances from Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura to the feeling of pure grit and determination you get when watching the final battle sequence. Just don’t mention the American remake to me… Other notable mentions include The Social Network (Fincher, 2010), The Beyond (Fulci, 1981)

Favourite Anime:
Excel Saga is quite possibly one of the most mental things I have ever had the delight to watch from the melodramatic voice acting of Excel, to the bizarre storylines in each episode. However, this peaks in the final episode “Going Too Far” which features a mixture of blood, nudity, lesbianism and paedophilia as an attempt to push the boundaries of Japanese TV, even though Japanese Anime is essentially the home of tentacle porn.

Favourite TV Show:
I have a massive amount of choice on this one. My taste in TV ranges from such excellent British comedies like Campus, The Inbetweeners, The IT Crowd and The Mighty Boosh, to teen dramas such as Skins (Series 1-3) and 90210

Favourite Albums:
It is quite difficult for me to pick my all time favourite album because I have a massively diverse taste in music, but my best picks would include rap albums such As N.W.A: Greatest Hits, Eminem’s Encore, Jay-Z The Black Album, 50 Cent The Massacre and Busta Rhymes Genesis. On the heavy, more metal side includes ones like Linkin Park Meteora, Slipknot All Hope Is Gone, Killswitch Engage As Daylight Dies and Slayer Reign In Blood. Other albums include Rise Against Appeal To Reason, The Me! Me! Me’s? K*I*S*S*I*N*G, The Gaslight Anthem The 59’ Sound, Scarface O.S.T and the Tron Legacy soundtrack.

Faviourite Alcoholic Drink:
Because I work in a bar I have had plenty of opportunity to try many different sprits and stuff, and seen many things which shocked and surprised me (May even blog about this at a later date...) But before I started my poison used to be good old Jack Daniels and coke and shots of Black Sambuca. Since starting at Vodka Revs I have progressed on to Russian Brides (The Revolution take on the classic white Russian), Belvedere and cranberry, and Strongbow. However, Strongbow has got NOTHING on Cornish ciders like Rattler, making it possible to get pissed on less than a tenner.

Faviourite Video Games:
Expecting this list to run on for ages, I will try and condense this to a few titles. One game I’m playing at the moment is id Software’s Doom 3 possibly one of the most shit-yourself-scared titles ever to grace a console since Silent Hill. Another worth mentioning is Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War, an RTS (Real time strategy) game which is as simple and fun to play which you wouldn’t really expect, considering it’s based on a game involving armour stats, tape measures and dice. Other classics include games by the now defunct Clover Studios, most notably there last two games they made, God Hand and their underappreciated swansong, Okami. The last game to be mentioned is the classic Final Fantasy series, more specifically IIV and X.

So yeah this is me and my likes, and also stuff I may blog about in the future along with anything new I see or do. I am going to the cinema later, so may not have to wait for a new blog!
